ANGELS AND NATURE SPIRITS;
Once you open to your angels, and in some cases perhaps even before, you may run into their cousins, the nature spirits. The nature spirits are themselves an angelic order, but they're literally on a different wavelength from our spiritual companions.
Some of the names given by different cultures to the nature spirits are devas, elves, fairies, undines, sylphs, salamanders, fauns, trolls, and gnomes. They are the presiding patterns that oversee all living, growing things, crops and gardens, forests and lakes, fish, fowl, and animals. We see their handiwork in such configurations as flocks of birds and schools of fish, and in the unique and delicate tracery of a single leaf.
Nature spirits co-create and nurture the physical environment-which they do independently of human efforts. However, at Findhorn in Scotland, and Perelandra in the state of Virginia, two sites of horticultural wonders, you can see for yourself and appreciate the enormous mutual benefit of consciously developed teamwork between humans and nature spirits. People of any sensitivity who work with the land have always had some sort of feeling for the existence of this unseen realm. Whether you're aware of it or not, you connect with the nature spirits whenever you tend to your plants, follow an impulse to hug a tree, walk in a garden, or eat anything that has been grown.
Our human bodies also have nature spirits, or devas (pronounced day-vahs) as we call them. The devas of our bodies are the organizing principles that coordinate the immense amount of information constantly flowing through the physical body. They are the spiritual equivalent of the myriad of cells, organisms, and microorganisms that have agreed to cooperate in such conglomerates as our kidneys, liver, lungs, heart, and pancreas.
Of all the angelic beings, the nature spirits are the ones who are most closely tuned to our human reality. They are a realm to be greatly respected since they have borne the brunt of most of our environmental follies and yet they continue willingly to serve. Opening ourselves to them now is very important, as they possess much information vitally needed for this time of planetary transformation.
SECRET KNOWLEDGE THROUGH THE AGES;
The angels come into all of our lives in a variety of ways. Some People meet them directly, in person or in visions and dreams. Others have felt their scintillating presence or heard them speaking or singing. Still others have experienced them as muses who inspire them creatively. And some, through the centuries, have dedicated their lives to studying angels from a Purely philosophical or theological perspective .
In addition to reports of angels in the Hebrew scriptures, the New Testament, and the Koran, each of these religious traditions has a vast "underground" literature about the celestials and how to make contact with them.  In the past, the methods used for connecting with angels were kept strictly secret. Only certain initiates of spiritual sects, those who were older, well established in their lives, and generally male, were taught the meditations and consciousness shifting techniques necessary to open to our invisible companions. Most of this knowledge could only be passed on verbally, from teacher to student. In more superstitious times, it was with good reason that the information was carefully cherished and what was written down was often encoded or deliberately made unintelligible except to those already on the path.
THE ANGELIC NATURE;
Angels don't have human natures, although we humans continue to project our characteristics upon them. They see and understand things in a very different perspective from the way we do. While we do have much in common, especially in regard to our higher goals, it's our very differences that can lead to fascinating dialogues.
All kinds of contradictory information can be found in angel lore. Some believe that angels are immortal, while others claim they are created only for a specific time and function. People argued long into the night over such questions as: When were the angels created? Do they have free will? Are the   entirely creatures of mind and spirit, or do they have physical bodies of some sort? Can people become angels, or are they an entirely separate species? Do angels ever come to Earth and take on human form? Are they higher than humans in the great chain of being, and therefore our potential teachers? Or are they more like our spiritual servants?
And-that hoary old question-are they really external creatures at all? Could it be that angels are aspects of our souls? Or that they are the reflections of our future selves toward whom we are evolving?
All of these conflicting ideas have been held to be true by a variety of scholars and spiritual seekers over the last three thousand years. But no two angel encounters are ever quite the same and, there is no one right way to meet them.
Although they're coming to us in a new and different manner, and are making contact with us more easily than ever before, it's helpful to know something of how our predecessors viewed the angels.
THE END OF THE AGE OF SECRETS
But we are living in a different time in history. Secret traditions are now being shared openly all over the planet. We stand on the brink of massive change. On the one hand, we face apparent global disaster, and on the other, there is the potential for the most glorious spiritual transformation our species has ever seen. We seem to be more out of balance than ever. Yet, we are also more globally entwined, more open and caring and evolved. At this time of personal and planetary acceleration, previous rules and old forms are being discarded. Contact with the angels, which used to take years of meditation and dedication, is now available to all who seek it, because the angels are closer to us, and more open to working with us on a conscious level, than they have been in thousands of years. From the interest generated in the workshops and seminars it's apparent that the angels are corning into more and more people's lives right now, bearing the same message it is time to change, time to grow and heal our lives and our beloved planet. And the angels aren't making contact just with special people, or in a secret way. They are doing it openly, joyfully, bringing good humor and good news.
NEW TESTAMENT STORIES;
Perhaps the most famous angel visitation of all occurred to a Jewish woman named Mary. As described in the New Testament book of Luke, the archangel Gabriel came to her to tell her that she was going to have a child. The birth of this child, Jesus, has changed the history of this world. From his birth until his death, there were angels all around him. According to another source, it was the angels who rolled away the stone that covered his empty tomb.
The last book in the New Testament is the Revelation to John. Like Ezekiel and Daniel five hundred years before, John was also living in exile from his homeland. An angel appeared to him and directed him to write to the guardians of several early Christian churches. In John's visions of the apocalypse, we find descriptions of the many different angels who are involved in the birth of a new world. John lived in challenging times-and so do we. Angelic midwives surround us, ready to assist us in the birth of the new world that John foresaw so long ago.
OLD TESTAMENT STORIES
Sarah and Abraham's grandson Jacob, had several angel visitors, too. They often came to Jacob in his dreams. In one he saw a ladder reaching up to Heaven, with angels going up and down. He built an altar on the spot where he'd had that dream. Another night, alone and awake, an angel of God came to him and wrestled with him. They struggled all night, and he was wounded in the thigh. In the morning, having held his ground, the angel blessed him. Haven't we all had to wrestle with our spiritual nature from time to time and felt blessed later by what seemed so difficult when we were going through it?
Angels attended the Hebrews as they wandered in the wilderness after the exodus from Egypt. And angels also appeared to many of the ancient prophets. Two of the most profound encounters occurred to the prophets Ezekiel and Daniel, who lived almost a thousand years after the time of Jacob. Ezekiel had been deported, along with the ruling class of his people, when the king of Babylon conquered the kingdom of Judah. Living through one of the darkest hours of his people, his words were filled with anger and hope. As with all prophets, he called upon his people to sanctify their lives. His visions of the throne of God and of the angels became models for generations of angel explorers who followed him. In probably his best known vision, Ezekiel saw the throne of God like a chariot surrounded by cherubim with four faces and many pairs of wings. The beating of their wings could be heard from one end of Heaven to the other. Daniel was the first prophet to call any of the angels by name. (Jacob asked the angel he wrestled with for its name, but got no answer. ) It's in the Book of Daniel that we meet Michael and Gabriel by name, and hear about the guardian angels of nations for the first time. Gabriel came to Daniel to help him interpret dreams. When the king had Daniel thrown into a lions' den, an angel shut the lions' mouths. In the morning when the den was opened, Daniel emerged unharmed. In this book, too, we meet Daniel's three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were saved from the fiery furnace they'd been thrown into by an angel who appeared in the midst of the flames. Down through history the angels have saved countless women and men from what seemed like impossible situations. They bring hope in times of despair.
In the Book of Tobit in the Apocrypha, one of the later books that didn't quite make it into the Old Testament, we find the wonderful story of how Raphael, the Angel of Healing, appeared to Tobit' s son Tobias, disguised as a fellow traveler. In the course of the story Raphael heals Tobit of his blindness, delivers Tobias from a demon, and restores the family to happiness. This story was first told more than two thousand years ago, and angels have been reaching out to us in healing ways ever since. How many angels in disguise do you suppose you might have encountered in your life?
ANGELS IN THE ANCIENT WORLD: THE FIRST WAVE
The foundation for our western understanding of the angels comes from the old testament, which is filled with angel stories. The hebrew patriarch abraham and his family had numerous angelic encounters. They appeared to hagar, the mother of his first son, Ishmael. And three unnamed angels came to abraham and his wife sarah to tell them that they were going to have a child. The couple was past ninety at the time, but in nine months a son, Isaac, was born to them. Later, when God told abraham to sacrifice Isaac to him as a test of his faith, it was another angel who grabbed his hand at the last moment to stop him. All through history, angels have been coming into our lives as the bearers of miracles.
ANGELS IN MEDIEVAL TIMES: THE SECOND WAVE
Angels appear when they're least expected. And they are equally unpredictable in what they say and do. Over thousands of years, much of the work of angels seems to have focused on keeping a spiritual equilibrium in the world of humans, and on generally preventing the worst excesses of which we are capable.
All through the early Middle Ages an intense interest in angels continued to build in both the Christian and Jewish communities. Cities and empires were rising and falling. Perhaps it was the chaos all around them that led people to try and make sense of the organization of Heaven. In medieval texts, angels were assigned to places, to days of the week, even to times of the day. Debates raged on the numbers of angels, their ranks, their functions, who their rulers were, and the most crucial question of the day: How many could dance on the head of a pin?
Angel Communication;
There are many different ways to connect with unknown energy powers. You must keep in mind there are negative forces also. All religions tell of good and evil powers. Evil will try to deceive mankind.
Senses; Always use your five senses when communicating with the unknown. Try to detect a scent, taste, and the temperature , be aware of your body reactions. Angels touch your heart, with feelings of  love , compassion, and comfort. Many times there will be the fragrance of flowers, or a warm breeze. Sometimes a beautiful light will appear. There is always comfort.
When or if you feel fear or are uncomfortable, say a prayer of your choice, and stop what you are doing.
Body; The body must be relaxed, and never under the influence of a mind altering substance. When you are tired or ill, wait until you have a good nights rest.
Mind; Open your mind to mental reception. Do not second guess your thoughts.
Angel Letters; This is a good way to start communicating with your angel.
Rise at daybreak, Before you have breakfast, Obtain a pen and tablet. Prepare your favorite  morning tea, or drink. Sit in a place where you will not be disturbed. Relax and focus on what you would like to know. Write down the first thoughts that come to your mind. Ask a question, and continue to write.
When you start, some answers may not make sense to you at the time. Keep a record, and read them later. According to your religious belief, a prayer before you start will be helpful with your practice.
Practice makes perfect.
If you believe one can speak to our creator, and be heard.. Why are answers inconceivable.
