CANDELS ![]()
LIGHT A CANDEL WITH LOVE
RELIGION
In some form candel burning for
attaining one`s objectives has been used throughout history ~ by the
Chinese, Egyptions, Hebrews, and Christians. Candels, like incense, were
commonly employed in pagan worship and in the rites for the dead. The Christian
church adopted them to enhance the splendor of their ceremonies. They
are, like
magic, lights, perfumes, bells, and vestments, not of special significance to
any one particular cult or religious practice, But are common to almost all
ceremonial rituals. They are part of the natural language of mystical
expression. Candels are used at baptism, funerals, excommunications,
confirmations, and the blessing and dedication of new churches ~ at almost all
religious services.
SYMBOL
Long
ago the conception was formed that the wax of the candel symbolized the flesh of
christ, the wick the soul of Jesus, and the flame The divinity which absorbs and
dominates both. This symbolism is still accepted in the Catholic Church, and it
is not lawful to say mass without lighted candels. If the candels are in danger
of being blown out, they must be protected by
lanterns.
MAGIC
In magical
practice, all kinds of candels are used, and I will cover them here only
briefly. There are entire books available on prescribed rituals to be followed
to accomplish particular objectives, but the simplist candel ritual consists
only of concentration on the objective you are seeking, a communion
with our Creator" as you believe." in the form of a petition or
prayer, the lighting of the candel, and a complete, unquestioning faith in the
ability of a higher power which will assist you toward your declared
goal.
ALTAR
The altar for your ritual, should be of
organic material "wood" This can be any small table, shelf, or bureau
top. It should be a secluded room where meditations, prayers, and devotion
can be conducted without interuption or distraction. An altar cloth made of any
organic, white, clean material, covers the center of the altar.
DRESSING
The dressing of
candels with oils is believed to enhance their powers, and candels should always
be anointed before using, for this magnetizes them and brings your vibrations
into them. The selection of the oil to be used is a matter of individual
decision as long as the one chosen is in harmony with the purpose for which the
candel is burned. To anoint the candel, it is rubbed from the center point
upward to the tip, and then from the center point down to the bottom. Never
apply the oil all the way in one direction from top to bottom ~ always from the
middle upwards or downwards. The candel should be dressed by the user, to
instill their own energy vibrations. A person who is ill, may have their candel
dressed by a loved one.
BURNING
The burning of incense with candel
rituals is not absolutely essential, but it is certainly compatible and is often
recommended. Again, choose an aroma which compliments the candel`s objective. If
incense is used, the burner always occupies the center of the altar ~ center
from top to bottom, and center from side to side. The type of incense used,
whether sticks, cones, blocks, or powder, is not important.
